About

Welcome ! Thank you so much for stopping by!

I’m Kate Williams.

I am a rising senior at Providence College where I am a biology and psychology double major, and a part of the neuroscience certificate program. Due to the extreme generosity of the college and the Father Smith Fellowship Program, I spent the months of July and August last year in Chimbote, Peru  working alongside the Dominican Sisters of Grand Rapids, Michigan in their Maternidad de Maria Clinic. This experience was the most humbling and formative of my life thus far. Through this experience I was  exposed to a new culture, a new way of living as well as was given a personal glimpse of the workings of third-world medicine. The people of Chimbote left a forever mark on my heart and I was so very blessed to have had the opportunity to have lived, loved and learned with them.

Flash forward to the summer of  2016 where I have been awarded a Santander Universities Global Service Learning Grant that will afford me the opportunity to venture to Chimbote, Peru once more to continue the work I began last summer. I have decided to update this blog, initially created for my Smith Fellowship, to continue to share the heart-felt stories from my travels.

I hope that you will check back often as I am excited to share this journey with you!

Until next time,

Kate
